Frequently asked

Sometimes there are still some questions left unanswered about a hiking trip with us

  • Traveling in a group! Is this something I like and what will it be like?

We have found that practically all of our guests are pretty much the same and get on really well right from the start. They stay in touch later on, meet up or go hiking with us again. However, since we have enough space in the great outdoors, we can keep enough distance if necessary.

  • I am single and would like to do the hiking/trekking trip in Scotland, Ireland, England and Sweden alone. Am I the only one among couples?

It may surprise you, but most of our guests are single travelers. But of course there are also couples or friends who travel together. Our experience has shown that the more diverse the group, the more fun our hike will be. The age groups are also quite varied. On average they range from 20 to 60. An 81-year-old participant impressively demonstrated to us that you are as old as you feel.

  • I don't know if a hiking trip in Scotland, Wales or Ireland is something for me. I've never done it before, but I would be interested

Slow down your life - speed up your mind! And that's exactly what will happen to you, because walking is our most original form of locomotion. With a high and extremely healthy potential for addiction! It is still deeply anchored in us. The evolution within us remembers with every step we take in nature. It is our very own pace.

  • What demands are placed on me on a hiking trip?

Are you a passionate hiker? Do you prefer a leisurely pace rather than "racing through nature"? Do you want to use your breaks to explore nature? Then we have something in common: This is exactly the kind of hiking we prefer! For us, hiking in Scotland, Wales or Ireland is NOT a sporting event, but a hiking trip that is meant to refresh the mind and body. We will reach our daily destination by 6 p.m. at the latest. You will have enough time to explore the respective village. You will have time to relax. You can enjoy dinner. In the morning, too, we let anything happen but not stress. After enough time for breakfast, our hikes begin between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., depending on the length of the day's route. Feel-good hiking, you should be able to say at the end of our hiking tour in Scotland, Ireland, England and Sweden. Net walking time on average 4 to 5 hours. Elevation in one day: average 100 to 200, maximum 500.

  • Hiking or trekking trip. How do I make the right decision?

Our hiking tours in Scotland, Ireland, England and Sweden take you to a cozy B&B or hotel every evening. The convenient luggage transport from accommodation to accommodation means that the weight of your backpack is kept to a minimum during the daily hikes. All B&Bs and hotels impress with their original and cozy character. We have grown very fond of the owners over the years and are happy when we visit them again and again with guests.

  • What are the requirements for a trekking trip in Scotland?

Trekking in Scotland is strenuous and is even more fun if you have a good level of fitness. The shortest daily stages are 3.5 hours and the longer ones are 6 hours 30 minutes. The elevation gain ranges from 100 to 500 meters, but sometimes even 1,000. However, the daily kilometers are usually less than on our hiking tours. The reward for the effort? Incredible landscapes, bizarre mountains and often more than 30 km from the nearest "civilization".

  • Backpack weight – will I be able to carry it?

Our hiking tours offer maximum comfort with minimum weight! Convenient luggage transport from accommodation to accommodation. You hike every day with just your light daypack (approx. 3 to 5 kg). The rest of your luggage will be waiting for you when we arrive at our new accommodation.

  • Is the weather in Scotland really always this bad?

The Scots say: "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute!" Rain for hours or even days is rare in Scotland. And when it does rain, you've never seen so many happy people as in Scotland. In general, the north is a little cooler but drier. And the west is warmer but a little wetter.

Why Scotland

If you've never been to the Scottish Highlands, this is an understandable question. Once you've been there, the only question that remains is: "When can I finally go back!"

  • Better than any app: The Scottish Highlands!

Varied landscapes from hilly to rugged mountain ranges. Areas covered in heather and gnarled pine forests. Crystal-clear water in the countless rivers and lakes. Fantastic places to unwind. Unique, sparkling clean air. And sometimes no sign of civilization or cell phone reception. Here, everyone becomes a nature lover and returns home from the Highlands strengthened. This is how Peter Höher sees "his" Scottish Highlands.

  • What makes the Scottish Highlands special? The mountains aren't exactly high.

The altitude makes the difference! Almost all mountains can be seen from sea level. A mountain 500 metres above sea level can take on impressive dimensions in Scotland.

  • Is Scotland even worth a hiking/trekking trip?

Endless expanses – lonely landscapes – pure nature! Away from mass tourism and accessible in one day. National parks with more than 3,800 km² without civilian roads – these are the Scottish Highlands.
